Hey Everyone,
Tonight was all about "My People" and they have a lot of exciting things going on this summer. Tamar-kali's album Black Bottom is coming out on July 13th, Gina Breedlove just dropped her CD Open Heart, Ian Friday just released the Found Myself EP, I Love Monsters just came back from LA doing a freecreditscore.com commercial and their song "Heart/Beat" is featured on HBO's Entourage and The Family Stand's new album In a Thousand Years is coming in September! Phew. Take a breath. Let it all sink in. My people are making moves. If you don't know the names, get to know them. These folks are here to stay.
Finally, blaKbüshe got a mention in theroot.com as one of Black Rock's Blazing Genius! Please check that out! We are very excited.
Thanks everyone and have a great rest of the week. Remember you can find me at WRFB: Radio Free Brooklyn Every Tuesday from 7-11pm. Please follow WRFB on twitter @radiofreebklyn. It's a great four hours of music. Don't miss it!
Peace,
Shelley

WRFB: Radio Free Brooklyn: It's June 22nd and I'm in a New York State of Mind
Hey Everyone,
Tonight was all about my New York City. Some of the songs are part of the pantheon of my life here in NYC, some are from New York based bands past and present and some of the songs just have the New York vibe. For all of your music lovers you know what I mean. Some music just screams the region that it's from. There is a definite New York sound.
I'm happy to also let you know that there will be an archive of the shows very soon! I can't wait for you all to hear what I've been playing for the last few weeks. Sorry this has taken us so long to get going, but that's community radio folks.
Much love to my WRFB crew; YankeeZulu, Christian John Wikane and Rob Fields. We are having such a great time bringing you the music that we love and inspires us. Remember to keep spreading the word about WRFB: Radio Free Brooklyn.

WRFB: Radio Free Brooklyn: June 15 "What's Your Number?"
Hey Everyone,
So sorry to have missed you last week. blaKbüshe was performing on the WNYC boat cruise so I had to miss the show. I'd like to thank YankeeZulu, Christian and Rob for holding it down for me.
This weeks show was all about numbers. I had a lot of fun with this one. We are coming up on the anniversary of Michael Jackson's death. So in honor of him I went digging int he crates and pulled out a not so old, but rarely heard track from his Invincible album. It doesn't even sound like Micheal on the track, but as we know he was a chameleon. We love you and miss you Michael!

WRFB: Radio Free Brooklyn June 1st: Rain or Shine
Hey Everyone,
We had another great night at WRFB. Christian John Wikane interviewed playwright/director/performance artist/professor Daniel Alexander Jones and Rob Fields had Earl Douglas the Executive Director of the Black Rock Coalition in studio to talk about the BRC 25th Anniversary and the show at Summerstage this Saturday featuring Pillow Theory, Ebony Bones and Living Colour! Don't miss out!
The weather here in New York doesn't know what it wants to do. It rains and it shines and my apartment just stays hot. So I decided to do a little musical weather report this week. I hope you enjoy it!
